Banned: real-time remote biometric identification in publicly accessible spaces for law enforcement, except in narrow cases such as searching for victims of abduction, trafficking or sexual exploitation and missing persons, preventing a specific and imminent threat to life or a terrorist attack, or locating suspects of listed serious crimes. Each use needs prior authorisation by a judicial or independent authority (with an urgency procedure), a fundamental rights impact assessment and registration.
